Techniques in IPM
Dr Victoria Wright from Hortires will be kicking things off at 10am with a short talk on ‘Techniques in IPM’
A look at the principles of integrated pest management and the tools that can be employed. Integrated pest management means the careful consideration of all available plant protection methods and subsequent integration of appropriate measures that discourage the development of populations of harmful organisms and keep the use of plant protection products and other forms of intervention to levels that are economically and ecologically justified and reduce or minimise risks to human health and the environment.
We will look at each principle and discuss the appropriate tools and techniques for use in a nursery or amenity situation.
Shaun Herdsman from Modiform at 11am with his seminar looking at material recycling;
An examination of the plastics used in horticulture, why they are used and what happens to them after use. Do they get recycled? Shaun will also be providing some great advice on which materials give the highest possible chance of being recycled.
